For the ultimate Lanai Dolphin snorkel adventure, come join Maui Adventure Cruises for a day of fun and adventure to the island of Lana'i aboard their Explorer Super Rafts! Maui Adventure Cruises is one of the few Lanai snorkel trips that includes a beach landing on Lana’i and is the least expensive landing trip offered by any Maui boating company. These “super rafts” are the largest in the Hawaiian Islands and one of only two Lana’i rafting trips with an on-board marine head (restroom).
Before leaving the harbor, Maui Adventure Cruises guests are supplied with soft-sided lunch cooler bags containing a croissant sandwich, small salad, chips, cookies, power bar and condiments. Beverages including water, soda and juices are available from the ice chests on the boat throughout the trip.
After leaving Lahaina Harbor, Maui Adventure Cruises heads across the channel to the island of Lanai. Lanai's resident pods of Spinner Dolphins are often encountered off the island of Lanai with lots of beautiful tropical reef fish, green sea turtles and occasional manta rays at the snorkel sites. This trip features an off-shore snorkel site either going to or coming from Lanai.
A landing is made on Lanai at Manele Harbor and guests then take a short (1/4 mile) walk to Hulopo'e Bay Marine Reserve with its beautiful white sand crescent beach. Shaded picnic tables are available for visiting with new fellow passenger friends and to enjoy lunch or a snack. Guests can snorkel in the bay, hike to Sweetheart Rock and wade or snorkel in the tide pools or visit the Manele Bay Hotel -- all a short distance from the public beach. Guests will have 3+ hours on the island visit, for a total trip of 6+ hours to the island of Lanai.

If you are thinking of a raft to Lanai to search for Dolphins, you may enjoy learning a little about the dolphins you may encounter during your rafting adventure. The most popular dolphins you will see around Maui and Lanai are the bottlenose and the spinner dolphins. Bottlenose dolphins eat several kinds of fish found in the Hawaiian waters. This includes mullet, mackerel, herring, cod and squid (called 'tako' in Hawaiian, not to be confused with a Mexican taco). The average bottlenose dolphin will eat 4-9% of its body weight per day, an average of 22-50 lbs. The bottlenose dolphin can weigh an average of 550 lbs and live as long as 50 years. Common behaviors of the bottlenose dolphin are jumps, leaps, lots of slapping and splashing! Spinner dolphins are smaller than the bottlenose dolphin. They average only 6 feet in length and weigh approximately 175 lbs. The Hawaiian name for the spinner dolphin is Nai'a. The Hawaiians have often referred to the Nai'a as the "ambassadors of aloha". Common behaviors of the spinner dolphin are jumps, flips, splashing, slapping, and leaps. The spinner dolphins are the only dolphin species known to be able to spin in the air. They can complete up to 7 complete spins before diving back into the water. Be sure to have your camera ready for this incredible performance! The dolphins in Hawaii are most playful in the morning and into the afternoon. Dolphins are found in abundance around the Island of Lanai. The National Parks and Wildlife (dolphins) Regulations 2000 provide the dolphins protection against any vessel approaching within 150 meters. If the dolphins approach the vessel within the 150 meters, the vessel can't exceed speeds of 5 knots or allow for passengers to get into the water to join the dolphins. If you happen to be in the water, enjoying your snorkeling, and a pod of dolphins approach your area...enjoy! It is an amazing experience. The National Parks and Wildlife Regulations also prohibit the feeding of the dolphins. Your captain is very familiar with the dolphin behaviors and patterns around Maui and Lanai. It is very common to be approached by the spinner dolphins as they perform for you. High-speed film will assist you in capturing the details of their acrobatic display and numerous spins! For your Lanai dolphin rafting adventure, make your reservations as soon as possible. Like we explained before, space is very limited for this popular Maui activity. Lanai dolphin rafting snorkels depart from Mala Warf or Lahaina Harbor, depending on the company. Molokini rafting snorkels depart from Ma'alaea Harbor or the Kihei Boat Ramp, depending on the company.
