Enjoy Maui Downhill Bike Company’s 28-mile guided sunrise tour down Haleakala with the bike tour starting at the 6,500 ft. elevation of Haleakala. Round trip transportation is included from your hotel or condo, along with safe, comfortable bikes, windbreakers, gloves and helmet. You will receive a continental breakfast at Maui Downhill’s office. The spectacular colors of our Maui Sunrise will astound you! Bring lots of film. Maui Downhill Sunrise Guided bike tour takes a break about half way down for a no-host meal stop. You will need to bring money for your meal purchase. Tax plus a fuel surcharge of $29.00 is added to each Maui Downhill participant.
For the Maui Downhill Sunrise guided bike tour, you will need to wear warm layered clothing, close-toed shoes and be a competent rider, at least 5 feet tall and at least 12 years old to participate. Sorry, no pregnant women on the bikes. You may participate as a van rider for the same rate as the bicycle rider. Maui Downhill Bike Company’s 28-mile guided tour from Haleakala to Paia town is perfect for those that don’t want to get up so early. This trip takes you to the top of Haleakala to view the crater and then brings you by van back down to the National Park Station at the 6,500'level where you will start the bike ride. They provide complimentary round trip transportation from your hotel or condo. Maui Downhill Bike Company has custom built bikes for your safety and comfort. A guide is in the front leading you down Haleakala at a safe and fun pace while the van is protecting you from behind. There are many photo opportunities for which Maui Downhill will make numerous stops so you can take advantage of Maui’s beauty! A continental breakfast is provided for you at the Maui Downhill office before you head up Haleakala for your 28-mile downhill bike tour. You will have the opportunity to purchase lunch about 1/2 down your Haleakala bike ride. Haleakala National Park Tour fee and a fuel surcharge is added to each Maui Downhill participant. These charges total $29.00 and will be added to your cost per person.

Please borrow a neighbor’s bike if you don't have one to practice on before coming to Maui, especially if you haven't ridden since you were a child. Riding the stationary bicycle at the gym doesn't count. Although the bike ride is down hill, your brakes are located on the handle bars. You must have the strength in your hands to brake continually down Haleakala Mountain.
Children that meet the height and age requirement should also be respectful of the rules and regulations that are followed strictly by the bike companies. It is the responsibility of the parents to insure that their children understand the information presented at the safety briefing. Any person that is causing danger to themselves or others will continue the journey from a comfortable seat in the van. This is at the sole discretion of the tour guides. No partial or full refunds will be granted in these events.
All the bike companies want to insure that everyone has a lot of fun and also that they are returned to their hotel in the same condition they were picked up in. The road used for all bike riders, regardless if it is a guided tour or unguided bike tour, is the same road used for vehicle traffic. Some areas do not have guard rails. You must stay in control of your bike at all times. If you feel you need a break during the guided tour from riding, they will allow you to ride in the van until you are ready to get back on your bike (as long as the tour guide agrees to your riding abilities).
